Crocheted Hats and Scarves help Homeless

Thank you Patty C for this wonderful donation of crocheted hats to warm Ohio's Homeless.  What a nice variety of sizes and colors she's included in her crocheted donation.  She's also included 3 crocheted scarves.

Hats and scarves are used here in Ohio probably 11 months out of 12.  Even in the hot summer months, nights can be cool and  damp and a scarf and hat can truly make a person more comfortable, when living out in the elements.  Homeless are often more cold than we are, even during warmer months, because their nutrition isn't good, and food is fuel that helps warm the body.  So please, even as you see things warm up a bit folks....keep up your needle work.  Remember, we here at Bridge and Beyond knit and crochet and donate all year long, not just when it's nasty out.

Thank you for all you do, and please keep up the good work.

**Would the person who donated red and gray socks, knitted hat and scarf please make contact.  You can email me at sandycrochet@gmail.com, leave a comment here on the blog, and or leave a note using the contact form here on the blog.**

2016 Donations:
HATS: 475-18=457
SCARVES (Gators, Infinity): 329-3=326
MITTENS: 91
SLIPPERS: 60
RAIN PONCHOS: 206
COTTON WASHCLOTHS: 236
AFGHANS: 35
SOCKS: 135

**We started the year with the number of items we had donated last year, 2016; and will subtract our donations from that.  Using the end number for 2016 as the goal for the each item.  So, as the year continues you will see numbers decrease.  Our goal is to meet and surpass the number of items donated last year.**

Crocheted Hats and Scarves Needed for Homeless

Thank you Patty C for this donation of blue hats and scarves.  Who doesn't like blue?  It's a color that works for men, women, and children.  It's a nice darker color that won't show the dirt and so is always well received.  Patty's made a variety of hat sizes to warm 8 more people in need.  Very nice, please keep up the good work Patty.

Folks, it was only 28 degrees this am when I got up, so while the calendar says it's Spring.........please don't be fooled, it's still cold and the need for warm items like hats and scarves has not gone away.  So please stay busy...just like our fellow Ohioan, Patty and keep your yarn hand.

2016 DONATIONS:
Hats:     260 -8=252
Scarves: 132 -3 = 129
Mittens/Gloves/Wrist Warmers:  86
Slippers: 77
Rain Poncho's:   +106
Cotton Washcloths:   347
Afghans:    14
Socks:   184
Cowls/Hoody Combo's, headbands:   8
Shawls and shrugs, ponchos, sweaters & vests etc 0
Misc: items like personal care, headbands etc and things don't fit into above categories aren't counted.

Please note the category of shawl, shrugs, ponchos etc has reached our little goal, same as last year of 1.........but please please please.........don't let that stop you from making more of these items.  Likewise note we've definitely reached our goal for rain poncho's.  Rain ponchos's serve many purposes so we will probably still need some....down the line, but not for awhile.

Second Crocheted Donation for Ohio Homeless

Thank you Patty C for this thoughtful donation helping to kick start our new year.  I LOVE the colors you've chosen.  A nice variety of hat sizes to fit both men and women.  Hats can be worn with the brim up and or down which also makes them pretty versatile size wise.

Many thanks and please keep up the good work.

I'm going to try something a little different with keeping our stats.  I'm listing our end numbers from 2015 and will subtract our current number as means of keeping our goal in front of us.  I'll show the goal number in Red.  Let's strive not match last years numbers, but.........work towards even more.  Thank you for all you do.  As time goes on, we won't see the year end numbers, we'll see the previous goal and subtract the new donation from it.  Hopefully we'll find this helpful and not too cumbersome...if so, we'll return to our previous format.

2 Dozen Crocheted Hats Donated to Warm Homeless

Thank you Patty C from Ohio for this thoughtful and generous donation of 2 dozen crocheted hats.  Nice  color combinations, love all the black and the dark burgundy's especially.  2 dozen more happy warm heads folks, how great is that.  In my opinion, hats and socks are the two most important items needed to try and stay warm.  This  past weekend I sat in the cold rain at The Ohio State footgame when we lost to Michigan State and I can tell from first hand experience..........those were the 2 areas that bothered me most.  My feet got wet and my ears were cold.  I kept pulling the hood tighter and stamping my feet.

We've had several mornings of 24 and 26 degree temperatures this week......folks, that's cold.  I hope you're all staying busy with your knitting needles, crochet hooks, and yarn.  The homeless need us.

Thank you Patty!

Hats and Scarves Help the Homeless

Thank you Patty C!  Patty and her crochet hook have been very very busy, as you can see crocheting hats and scarves to help Ohio's homeless.  I LOVE that the hats and scarves are nice dark, and pretty much solid colors.  These colors are so versatile for both men and women.  I mention from time to time, the darker colors serve many purposes.  The most obvious reason the darker colors are so good is they don't tend to show the dirt.  However, even more importantly the dark  colors vs light and bright colors keep them from standing out..........folks that's very important to homeless.  They want to blend in, not catch the attention of others who might make things difficult for them.

Many thanks Patty, please keep up the good work.

Crocheted Donations Help Ohio's Homeless

Another pretty lacy feminine afghan from Patty C's crochet hook.  Please scroll back to yesterday's post to see her other pretty's.  These are motive style granny squares joined together to make a lovely afghan.  Patty's joined 16 squares, so it's a very nice sized square.  Luck be the lady tonight, an old Frank Sinatra song popped into my head as I was getting ready to type how lucky the lady who receives this beauty is.  Anyone as old as me know the song?
Yesterday I said Patty's been busy and I really wasn't teasing folks.  Hats galore and a couple of scarves round out her thoughtful donation.  Whew...

Thank you also Patty for taking the time to tag your hats with the size, it helps everyone.

Homeless Need Your Help, Please Donate

Thank you Patty C, fellow Ohioan for this thoughtful donation of crocheted hats and scarves.  Hats are in a variety of sizes and colors which helps us warm a variety of cold heads.  Patty's also taken the time to tag her hats with size.  YIPPEE!
We ask everyone to tag hats, mittens, and slippers with size and to please pair mittens and slippers that need to stay as a pair.  The hats can be worn with or without a brim depending on weather conditions and or the size of the head needing warmth.

Please keep up the good work, Patty.

**Please check in daily folks, and remember larger donations are separated in order to have fewer pictures per post, fewer items in a picture so you can see the lovely items better, and to help us with a blog post daily......which you've heard me say repeatedly helps the blogs placement, which in turn helps us reach more helping hands in order to warm more people in need.**

Patty also crocheted and donated scarves which makes matches sets!  Nice work Patty, thank you for your caring heart.  You are greatly appreciated.

Please keep up the good work!

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
